Gimp Assignment 4
For this assignment, the goal was to catch the personality of the subject in a portrait photograph. The main focus in this project is the lighting. For the image against the wall, we used a technique called a bounce light. We stood by the window and then used a shiny surface, or a poster board, and reflected the natural light onto the subject's face. This way there was light shining on both sides of the face, therefore there was not any shadows. The second technique was a more professional photograph, with the "sandwich technique". With this set-up, we used a key light to shine straight on the subject, a background light for depth on the curtain, a hair light to shine from above, and a fill light to provide another light source. This type of portrait picture turned out very neat, and it looked very professional.
